According to a US News & World report, up to 10% of voters in the US election coming up in November 2020 will be foreign born. In the State of California, the percentage may be as high as 20%.
Foreign born voters must be naturalized immigrants to gain the right to vote.
This pool of eligible voters in the United States is one third Hispanic and one third Asian in origin.
Foreign born voters have a history of being more likely to vote than their US-born counterparts. More than half of naturalized immigrants vote compared to less than half of U.S.-born voters.
Democratic candidates have tried to engage naturalized immigrant voters with pro-immigration policies, contrasting the anti-immigrant policies of the Trump administration.
