The DV Lottery process has been simplified, making your path to the U.S. quicker than ever! Here is some important news for all you who have either already applied or are thinking about applying to the Diversity Visa (DV) program for fiscal year 2024 (DV-2024) and beyond.
The tremendous change is that the U.S. State Department has decided to simplify the process by reducing the paperwork requirements. If you are a DV Lottery winner, now you do not need to send all your supporting documents to the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). You just have to submit the DS-260 immigrant visa application form for yourself and any family members accompanying you. Once the KCC has your DS-260, they will check it, process the data, and your case will be ready to be scheduled for a visa interview, assuming your visa case number is current as shown in the Visa Bulletin.
By eliminating this step, the KCC will be able to schedule more DV appointments earlier in the year, making things smoother and faster for you.
Remember, do not send any required supporting documents to the KCC. All the additional documents will now be reviewed during your interview at the embassy or consulate where you are applying for the visa. The following are some of the supporting documents you will need:
While being selected for the Diversity Visa Lottery program does not guarantee a visa or an interview, this new process simplifies your path. You will still need to meet all requirements and have your visa issued before the end of the fiscal year.
With this new, streamlined process, the DV Lottery has certainly become easier. Good luck on your journey towards your American dream!
